Copper prices are expected to rise following the earthquake in Chile on 27th February.

The earthquake which reached a magnitude of 8.8 stopped production in a 5th of Chile's copper mines.

The knock-on effects of the earthquake have caused uncertainty in the copper market increasing the price by $400.00/tonne within a week.

Estimates suggest the LME copper price will carry on increasing with copper trading between $8000 and $10,000/tonne in the near future.
